This year’s theme:
Roots & Branches: Unions and Communities in Common Struggle
The growth of the far-right , and intensification of racism in our communities and workplaces, can only be challenged by common struggle.
This year, NOC is focusing on strengthening collaborations between unions and communities to build collective power.
We will be focusing on organising against the far right and challenging racism, particularly organising that involves both labour organising and community organising.
Key Information:
NOC26 will take place August 28-30th, at Liverpool Hope University
Call for Sessions:
The conference is in it’s planning stage — and we received over 50 applications from organisers, activists and movement builders to shape the programme.
The open call for sessions is now closed. If you would still like to propose a session, please email Carolyn Hayman with your session title, short description and the name of the session leader.
Registrations:
Registrations open May 1st.
We are encouraging unions and other organisations to book for a group, to maximise the impact of their participation.
Groups of 10 or more will attract a 15% discount on the standard ticket price, and 20 or more a 25% discount.
About the programme:
NOC is organised by and for organisers. The strength of the conference comes from sessions rooted in real struggles — in workplaces, neighbourhoods, campaigns and movements — and from people willing to share what they’ve learned. From hands-on skill-sharing to deep political reflection, the sessions at NOC are what make the conference truly ours.
Sessions at NOC this year will cover:
Stories of labour organising - both within & beyond the workplace
Practical sessions on organising techniques and skills
Trade unions and community groups working together
Migrant worker organising, across sectors and borders
Organising in the gig economy and other precarious forms of work
Building alliances between organisers, movements and left media
Countering fear, isolation, burnout & uncertainty
Navigating conflict, division and fragmentation
